Classic elegance designed by Robert Dame, and executed by Goodchild Builders this exquisitely appointed, Tanglewood home custom-built in 2012 exudes warmth and the sense of gracious living.
This gracious Low Country-eque home is tucked away on a quiet cul-de-sac on a generous one-half acre + lot.
From the brick paver driveway, to the sculptured grounds, to the while pillars, to the brick elevation with the shake shingle accents and the working shutters this home is the pinnacle of Americana.
The broad front porch features reclaimed brick, gas lanterns and transom windows over the three sets of glass paned, oak front doors.
Reclaimed floors of 250 year old salvaged oak run through the rooms and corridors that link each room to the next.
Wherever the eye falls is a touch of elegance in an artful custom finish—an antique door or transom, a wainscoted arch, or a groin vault in the Entry. Faithful to a Birdsall Briscoe the Back Yard is visible at the Entry of this home making nature another element from within.
Immediately off the Entry is this handsome paneled Library with block paneling, hardwood floors and a wood burning, gas assist fireplace. With the pocket doors closed light still streams in through the transom windows.
The Library also has a view of the Back Yard.
On the opposite side of the Entry is the grand Dining Room with dual crystal chandeliers, and room for a banquet table. Pocket doors here will also slide closed to provide more intimacy.
The doors from the Dining Room to the Entry as well as the transom above feature antique wrought iron insets.
Continuing down a corridor from the Entry is the Bar.
Sumptuous custom cabinetry is topped with a striated granite pattern and antique hardware.
In the Bar, as it is throughout the home, artisans created built-in cabinetry to resemble antique furniture. The built-in that holds the barware was crafter to resemble an antique French breakfront.
Between the Dining Room and the Kitchen is a Caterer's Kitchen with a separate entrance from the driveway. Here we have double ovens, double warming drawers, a six burner gas range, beverage cooler and separate pantry.
The Caterer's Kitchen also features a Sub Zero refrigerator and appliance storage.
The grandeur of the Kitchen will steal your breath. The walls are of random patterned stone, the cabinets are artisan built all anchored by the custom, hand tooled copper range hood.
The island is topped with a glimmering wood counter and seating for four. The Kitchen also features dual Wolf ranges, dual dishwashers, dual copper farm-style sinks with vintage-style faucets--one of which has a reverse osmosis water tap.
The reclaimed floors, the door frames as well as the reclaimed beams add such warmth to the Kitchen.
The Butler's Pantry features a microwave, glazed cabinetry custom finished by Segreto, as are the remaining cabinets in the Kitchen.
Just ff the Kitchen is the Breakfast Room with artisan built custom built-ins that resemble pieces of antique furniture.
The Great Room into the Solarium.
The Kitchen is open to this aptly named Great Room. Reclaimed beams stud the cathedral ceiling. On the far wall is random patterned stone and a wood burning, gas assist fireplace.
A large room with enviable scale.
A view of the Kitchen from the Great Room.
Beyond the Great Room is the Solarium.
The Solarium features reclaimed brick floors, a Summer Kitchen and a view of the Back Yard. The doors of the Solarium slide open to allow the outdoors in.
The Back Yard has the feel of a classic amenity from the Cloisters, the Broadmoor or the Greenbrier. Pennsylvania Bluestone pavers beneath your feet, and the ivy covered stanchions are topped with subtly twinkling gas lights.
Would you like to participate or spectate? The choice is yours. Sit here and enjoy the splashing, gurgling of the fountain.
Whether you prefer shade or sun, swimming laps or floating there is something in the Back Yard for everyone.
Practice your putting on this Amen Corner-worthy putting green.
Beyond the Great Room is this cozy Television Room that features marbleized faux painted walls by Segreto, and another artisan built-in. The door leads to an oversized three car Garage, while the stairs lead to another wing of the home that we will tour in a moment.
The Master Bedroom is stunning. Ensconced in the cathedral ceiling are substantial beams that accent the reclaimed wood floors and the dual paneled wood doors. Opposite the bed is yet another artisan designed built in.
The Master Bedroom affords a view of the Swimming Pool.
The Master Bath is glorious! From the marble rimmed soaking tub, to the stone entry to the shower...
...tumbled marble tiles on the floor accent the dual sinks, marble counter and artisan crafted double vanity. The Master Bath is flanked by two, well-appointed walk in closets--His closet is visible through the door to the Bath.
Just off the Entry is this lovely Powder Room with a marble topped antique vanity and other elegant touches.
The Second Floor of the Main House features this large Living Room with a bird's eye view of the Back Yard. For the pleasure of your guests there is a big screen television and a Kitchenette with a refrigerator.
